Overview[]
Sanctum is a quiet dimension; remnants of an advanced ancient civilization lie below the white landscapes covering the broken buildings of a once great people. Ruined treasure lies dormant within some of the ruins left by the civilization. Netherite is hidden in many of the old structures of Sanctum, buried deep within the rusted machinery and cracked bricks. Sanctum is also an anti-grief dimension, with TNT disappearing, lava evaporating into obsidian, and fire dissipating from the ground.
To access Sanctum, you must dig all the way down to the bottom of the nether near bedrock level. To exit, drop into the Void by descending to bedrock level or fly up into the sky to return to the Nether.
Sanctum is also one of 6 dimensions that contains its own unique boss to challenge.
Structures[]
-The Obsidian Hand is a hand made of mainly obsidian and polished blackstone bricks. There are 3 ancient debris in the structure: 2 blocks in the palm of the hand, and one block inside the arm. The hand used to contain netherite blocks instead of ancient debris, but this was changed for obvious reasons.
-The Buried Gear is a gear made of mainly polished andesite, polished blackstone bricks, cracked polished blackstone bricks, polished blackstone brick stairs, obsidian, smooth stone and bedrock. The structure also contains 30 iron blocks (270 iron ingots) and 4 ancient debris in the middle of the gear.
-The Stone Army is a structure that represents an army of stone soldiers, accompanied by their blackstone "horses" and standards. This structure has two variants: one that will always be the same, with a tomb whose loot table is shown below, and one that is entirely randomly generated, without a tomb, although some soldiers might have netherite scraps inside the furnaces that serve as their heads.
For each barrel, at least 2 and at most 5 slots will have loot in them. These are the percentage probabilities for each selected slot :
Item | Odds |
---|---|
Clock | 9.23% |
Moss Block | 3.07% |
Saturation Potion | 7.69% |
Netherite Pickaxe | 3.07% |
Netherite Sword | 3.07% |
Netherite Shovel | 3.07% |
Netherite Axe | 3.07% |
Netherite Hoe | 3.07% |
Netherite Helmet | 3.07% |
Netherite Chestplate | 1.53% |
Netherite Leggings | 1.53% |
Netherite Boots | 3.07% |
Rotten Flesh | 12.30% |
Bone | 12.30% |
Bone Meal | 12.30% |
Smithing Table | 7.69% |
Obsidian | 10.76% |
In the randomly-generated variation, each soldier directly in front of a "horse" will necessarily have a netherite scrap in its blast furnace.
-The Ruined Sanctum Building is a structure made of mainly obsidian, cracked polished blackstone bricks, polished blackstone brick wall, smooth stone, chains, clay, chipped and damaged anvils and bedrock. The structure also contains 4 evoker fang spawners inside the obsidian pillar at the middle. One can tell where it is located precisely by looking for flame particles emerging from the pillar, which are a side effect of the spawners' presence. Destroying those should be one's top priority as they can easily kill an unprepared player. There are lots of dispensers on all the floors with loot inside:

It is interesting to note that, by visiting enough Buildings and Stone armies, one can obtain a full set of Netherite armor with relative ease, compared to the task of simply digging to the Nether's bedrock floor once or twice. -The Sanctum Dungeon is a massive complex found within The Dark Soot Dunes biome with three main portions: the underground tunnels, the pyramid, and the balancing vault. The entire structure is encased with a single layer of bedrock and is impenetrable aside from the openings of tunnels branching out from underneath the pyramid. The network of tunnels often contains rooms with loot, "sleeping" netherite statues that attack the player if disturbed and will emit redstone jolts, expanding area of effect clouds that wither, blind, and starve players, and the occasional angry enderman. At the center portion of the pyramid contains an immobile boss known as "Project Ruination" which, once defeated will grant access to the Cosmic Cornucopia Vault portion of the structure. The vault contains valuable loot, such as experience bottles, a single netherite block, and a room containing 27 wither skulls.
-The Pillar structure only generates near 0,0 and spawns in when players dig down from the Nether to the Sanctum. On slower computers, it may take additional time for players to teleport to Sanctum at their first visit. At this time, the structure contains nether loot nor enemies to fight.
In a rare instance of a structure generating in more than one dimension, the Viperfish fossil, usually only found in Glacium, can be rarely found in the Dark Soot Dunes biome. It is much harder to find here than in Glacium, since it is oftentimes visible when looked at from above the ice there. This has been confirmed to be intentional by the developers.
Biomes[]
The Rubblework City biome contains copious amounts of cracked bricks. Deepslate brick structures, rumored to be the remains of a giant ancient city once governed by gears and machinery of all kinds, can be found here. The Greenhouse and obsidian hand structure generate in this biome. Also found here are invisible vindicator mobs known as marauders. The marauders have enchanted (Sharpness 3, Knockback 3, Looting 1, Fire Aspect 2) netherite swords, increased player follow range, movement speed, but low player detection range. If a band of marauders are killed they will not respawn again in the same area.
The No Man's Land biome is a wasteland that contains sand and blackstone brick spires. Nothing but sand can be seen for miles. The Buried Gear and Ruined Sanctum Building can be found here.
The Dark Soot Dunes is a biome all about patches of black and grey concrete powder. It contains large calcite spires in a similar vein to that of the Crystal Caves biome. The Sanctum Dungeon is the only structure that will generate here.
The Voidship Harbor biome is a subterranean void biome that is mostly featureless except the sky, water, fog, grass, and foliage in the biome being colored dark black. More structures will be added to this biome in the future. The Sculk parasite has infected this place, with patches covering the obsidian walls of the harbors. Travelers may be advised that Wardens are invisible there. Tread with caution.
Lore[]
Sanctum is one of the oldest dimensions and was created to be a crowning gem among the other realms. However, due to the overambition of its inhabitants, and the destruction of their mod, the realm eventually became an unending wasteland. The Builder, the mod who was killed by his own people, created this dimension and governed a race of people there. Over the centuries however, they quickly advanced in power and knowledge until they reached the point in which they realized they could overpower the mod ruling them.
This ended up backfiring when the Builder died, because the land began rejecting its inhabitants. All of the plants perished, their sun cooled, reddened, and gave up on traveling its path across the sky. The atmosphere thinned and ash snowed endlessly from above. Those formerly living there were then forced to adopt a nomadic lifestyle, scattered throughout all of the other dimensions as wanderers. These people were then renamed as "Outlanders."
Despite it all, Sanctum still gets some attention from the occasional archeologist and treasure hunter looking for valuable artifacts to plunder beneath the dunes. However, many avoid its surface, afraid of its cursed legacy and its relative position near The End.
