Operating The Arc, a portal that spawns in the dimension Pax, is relatively complex. Successfully opening a portal to another dimension involves two main factors - the combination of the levers on the portal's control panel and the keys necessary to unlock the portal itself. See here for a (outdated) representation of how to use the portal. (Note - the video only shows the lever combinations and not the obtaining method for the keys.)

Lever Combinations[]

The lever combinations themselves are organized by different color combinations. The top left adds red coloring, the top right brightens the coloring by adding white, the bottom left adds green coloring, and the bottom right adds blue. White, when used alone, signifies Black.

The system is based around the way printers use color : red + green = yellow, blue + green = cyan, etc. Through these combinations, particles will appear both on the control panel and in the center of the portal itself. In the table below, the lever combination will also be listed.

Color Lever Combination Result
Red Top-left Dormis
Yellow (Red + Green) Top-left, bottom-left Overworld
Gray (Red + Green + Blue) Top-left, bottom-left, bottom-right The Underdark
Mustard (Red + Green + White) Top-left, top-right, bottom-left Sanctum
??? (Red + Green + White + Blue) Every lever Pax
Magenta (Red + Blue) Top-left, bottom-right Varskspace
Pink (Red + Blue + White) Top-left, top-right, bottom-right The End
??? (Red + White) Top-left, top-right The Nether
Green Bottom-left Panacea
Dark Cyan (Green + Blue) Bottom-left, bottom-right The Faewilds
Lime (Green + White) Bottom-left, top-right) Omnidrome
Light Cyan (Green + Blue + White) Top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right Glacium
Blue Bottom-right The Brine
Black (White by itself) Top-right Void

(NOTE: As of Update #28, Particle representations are not necessary for identifying which dimension to go to, and are something more aesthetic than anything else. The portal will now glow with the dimensional particle effects, as well as text popping up on the lever area telling you which dimension you will be entering.)

Obtaining the Keys[]

To actually access each portal to make a universal travel system, you must first enter each dimension and locate special keys to insert into the portal key chest. Sometimes The Arc comes loaded with 1-2 keys already loaded in, but most need to be earned by finding them as loot throughout the 11 dimensions. Once you earn a key, insert it into The Arc by placing it into the portal key chest. The locations are as follows:

  • Overworld Portal Key: Can always be found in the key chest on the Pax Portal.
  • Nether Portal Key: Obtained by summoning a wither in Pax. Can also be rarely found in the Pax Portal chest.
  • End Portal Key: Exclusively found from killing the Ender Dragon. It spawns on top of the Dragon Egg.
  • Void Portal Key: Exclusively found by killing trilobites.
  • Glacium, Sanctum, and Omnidrome Portal Keys: Can be found by defeating the boss in their respective dimensions.
  • Faewild Portal Key: Can be found at Fae Pools and rarely in Pax.
  • Underdark Portal Key: Can be found by killing the Unsung boss in the Underdark.
  • Panacea Portal Key: Can be crafted in the Chlorocrafter.
  • Varskspace Portal Key: Can be found in the Varskspace Spires.
  • Brine Portal Key: Can be found in pirate ships in The Brine.
  • Pax Portal Key: Can always be found in the Pax Double Tree.
  • Dormis Portal Key: Can be found very rarely in the Glacium Hotsprings, Omnidrome Library, Pax Double Tree, Pax Portal, Sanctum Dungeon, and the Giant Sponge Tower.
