Long before mortals as currently exist were concieved, the Mods orchestrated their creation of the Will-less Things. Willess things were directly created by the Mods themselves, out of things from the surrounding environment. Like fire or wind. Mods viewed their willess creations as the pinnacle of all life in the cornucopia. The things swarmed in every dimension, terraforming cliffsides, gardening forests, announcing the presence of Mods upon their arrival; following the direct orders of whatever Mod they're assigned to, they got passed around from Mod to Mod over the centuries. As an example, Valkyries used to operate in Pax but were borrowed by the Scholar before she was lost. The line defining who controls which willess thing is blurry, and changes from epoch to epoch. Over time, as the Mods shifted their attention to mortals, whom they call "willful things" by the willless, the creation of new willless things sunk into irrelevancy. Whether or not some Mods are still creating Will-less beings is unknown. Some examples of Will-less things are the Thrall, Valkyries, and Unsung.
